Glasgow Commonwealth Games demand will mean strain on rail services

The team up at Car Hire Glasgow Airport understand that the rail services around the rest of the country could well be affected to cope with the demand for the Commonwealth Games.

Some services in other parts of Scotland will be affected because of the demand during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The east coast of the country and Edinburgh will have reduced carriages by rail company Scotrail to cope with the added stress on demand in and around Glasgow during the Games.

Most affected will be the North Berwick line through East Lothian, with a reduction of 99 seats per service. Up to 150 services will suffer reduced seating, to add extra seats for spectators going to and from events during the Games.

Even a number of Glasgow commuter trains will have carriage reductions, plus Scotrail have said it is the biggest timetable that Scotland has ever seen, with upward of one million extra journeys provided to people during the event.
