Car Hire Edinburgh Airport are huge car fanatics and loved that some of the rich and famous descended on Edinburgh and showed off some of the most expensive sports cars around.
Hundreds of car enthusiasts were in Edinburgh on Sunday as the Gumball 3000 Rally arrived. The event which was created out of the 1976 film sees mainly rich sports car fans drive their expensive and luxury vehicles along 3,000 miles of public roads across different countries. Some of the elite brands on show included Ferrari, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Mercedes, Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
Of the many car fans included Jonathan Ross and his son Harvey who arrived in a yellow Lamborghini. After parking and registering the rented car he struggled for 30 minutes to get the car moving again.
Jonathan said, “I’m fully comp insured and driving rather like an elderly widow. I’m already petrified about scratching it — that’s why I took so long to park. The car is worth over a hundred grand, so it’s not one of the crazy ones here. It’s still worth silly money. It’s a nice father and son experience. We’re staying in automatic and not going into the gears, nice and slow. My son hasn’t quite passed his test yet, so if you see him driving, you know we’re in trouble.”
The fee to enter the rally is set at a costly £40,000 with around 125 luxury cars taking part in the event, which began in Miami last week. The event will continue through London, Paris, and Barcelona and arrive in Ibiza on June 11th. The rally was founded in 1999 by entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper.
