Are you flying into London Stansted Airport this summer? Then pick up your Easirent hire car from our London Stansted Airport branch and head to this year’s Huguenot Summer 2015. The festival, which will take place mainly in the Spitalfield’s area of London celebrates the legacy that the Huguenot’s left on British culture in the 16th to 18th centuries.
Huguenot Summer 2015 will be taking place in different venues across London (and some other parts of England) to celebrate the creative talents and entrepreneurship of the Huguenot’s, who settled in England in order to flee religious persecution in France.
The Huguenot’s had vast creative talents in banking and silk weaving an entrepreneurial spirit and a radical approach to work, and it was thanks to them that the skills base of the entire country was altered. The Huguenot Summer Festival 2015 celebrates the diversity of this skills base through a series of events, stories, workshops and talks.
Take the whole family along to the fundraising walks, which last one hour and explore the areas in which the Huguenot’s settled during the 16th to 18th Centuries. Or visit different participating museums, which will be giving in depth talks and workshops on the Spitalfield’s silk and archive material linked to the Huguenot Londoners. There will also be a Spitalfield’s music weaving day and a Fabric of the City Exhibition that you can visit during the summer months.
So make the journey from London Stansted Airport and take part in over 100 events, many of which are free to visit.
