Car Hire Gatwick Airport are not surprised by the early response to the consultation period on the options for a second runway.
The consultation on runway options at Gatwick Airport did not take long to get views on-board as around 800 people attended a public consultation exhibition at The Hawth on 5th April. The six week consultation period only went live on the 4th April, where residents can comment on-line, by post or in person at one of the 16 public exhibitions on what they think of the runway options.
Cllr Sally Blake said “We are already building up to our boundaries with no room for new homes for the families on our housing list. Noise and air quality pollution is another major factor with current levels in excess of EU guidelines at peak periods.”
Gatwick Airport will use all the responses to refine its plans and conclude with choosing which option best suits all parties. Then take this to the Airports Commission for further consideration as part of its evaluation process.
Stewart Wingate, CEO of Gatwick Airport, said “We are keen to encourage as many local people as possible to respond to our consultation as this feedback will have a key role in helping us to refine our runway proposals.”
