There are many who are not fans of flying, with staff working at the Gatwick Airport depot of Easirent Car Hire thinking the course to help with the phobia a good one.
More than one hundred people have taken part in the latest course at Gatwick Airport aimed at overcoming the phobia of flying.
Budget airline easyJet ran its latest Fearless Flyer course at Gatwick Airport over the weekend. A group of 110 nervous flyers took part in the two-day course run by phobia expert Lawrence Layton and easyJet pilot Captain Peter West.
They explained how a plane works, dispelled myths about flying and taught participants ‘mind tools’ to manage their fear. The group then put all the skills they had learnt to the test by travelling onboard a special easyJet flight, which featured full commentary in the air from Captain West.
One of the people, who took part in the course, said “I haven’t flown for over three years and it’s been having a massive impact on my life. The course really helped me to understand how a plane works and how I could control my nerves. I did feel apprehensive before we took off but I now realise these were just my old negative mind patterns, because I felt totally relaxed in the air.”
