It’s set to be a spectacular summer for sport, with the Women’s Football World Cup kicking off this weekend. But if rugby’s your sport, then a trip to Leeds this summer has to be on the cards. Leeds has been chosen as one of the host cities for the Rugby World Cup 2015, and will be hosting two international games during the pool rounds.
Famed for its rich sporting heritage, Leeds is home to the famous Headingley Stadium, a unique stadium that hosts Rugby Union, Rugby League and cricket matches all in the same space. The first ever Rugby League International was hosted at Headingley Stadium and it was in Leeds that Don Bradman scored his famous 334 cricket runs.
This time it’s Elland Road’s turn, home of Leeds United Football Club, the stadium will play host to Canada vs Italy on 26th September 2015 and Scotland vs USA on 27th September 2015. The teams will have everything to play for, as they battle it out to reach the knockout rounds of the Rugby World Cup.
