This year the Liverpool International Music Festival returns with a bang. Taking place across the August Bank Holiday weekend, which this year runs from Friday 27 August to Monday 31 August, the festival is Europe’s biggest free music event.
Having taken over from the Mathew Street Festival, which was an annual event celebrating all that is The Beatles, the Liverpool International Music Festival is setting up camp in the leafy, green Sefton Park and throughout various venues across the city centre.
The world-famous celebration of music will include some big names. Headlining the main stage on Saturday 29 August will be Basement Jaxx; Sunday’s headline act is Labrinth and on Monday the stage will be taken over by a whole host of headliners, including the iconic Liverpool band Echo and the Bunnymen, who will be performing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and also headlining will be Laura Mvula. Performing across the weekend will be Artful Dodger, Rae Morriss, Naughty Boy, Anushka, and many more to be announced.
The event in Sefton park will be a free event, but there may be some entry prices in smaller venues across the city, which will range from £5 to £15. Festival goers are advised to check the official website beforehand, just to make sure.
