Work is under way at Sefton Park, preparing it for the role it will play in the Liverpool International Music Festival. The park will be the setting for the ‘Summer Jam’ component of the festival, which will be headlined on Sunday by pop-reggae artist Shaggy and will also feature singer-songwriter Foxes on Monday.
Also featuring will be city music legend Ian Broudie, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Liverpool dance act Tea Street Band. On Saturday, a range of tribute acts will take to the Central Stage in the park.
The Summer Jam event will include five stages, including an It’s Liverpool stage to showcase the city’s best up-and-coming acts including Bird, By the Sea and Baltic Fleet, while on Monday the likes of veterans The Farm and John Power will perform.
Described as ‘the beating heart’ of the festival, the Sefton Park stages will complement events taking place around the city until August 31. Boy George will play a full set with live band at St George’s Hall on Thursday, while DJ act 2manydjs will be at a Club MTV event held at East Village Arts Club, on Seel Street.
