The Peel Group, a leading transport investment group in the UK has announced a long-term agreement with Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which will underpin a major investment programme that will come to fruition over the next five years.
The agreement will support the strong operational performance of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and it will also support any future growth. The Peel Group’s investment is set to reduce the airport’s outstanding bank debts, and will help to fund the upcoming airport improvements to its terminal buildings.
The terminal refurbishments, which are centred around improving passenger experience across the entire airport, will see an expansion of facilities, which will contribute to the airport’s growth. The last 12 months has seen an increase in Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s business following and this is down to the new routes that the airport is operating – reports show that there is a 6% increase in passenger numbers in the first half of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.
Andrew Cornish, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, commented on the Peel Group’s recent investment,
“This is an exciting time for the Airport and Peel’s latest commitment will help to ensure that whilst continuing to grow the business further by offering our passengers more choice of airlines and destinations, we can give them the best possible passenger experience too, cementing our position as the Airport the region loves.”
