If you’re heading to London then you should be aware of the London Congestion Charge, which is a fee to be paid upfront by anyone wanting to travel by car through the capital’s streets. So if you’re picking up your Easirent hire car from our London Kings Cross depot, then you should be aware of the different rules that apply, before you hit the road. Here at Easirent, we have complied a condensed list of London Congestion Charge information, just to make your travels a little easier.
1. The London Congestion charge was the first charge of its kind to be introduced anywhere in the world, as a way of reducing the flow of traffic on the city’s roads. Effective on weekdays between certain times, the Congestion Charge is much cheaper if you pay in advance.
2. Applicable between 07:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday the Congestion Charge ranges in price from £10.50 to £14.00 and doesn’t need to be paid if you’re planning on travelling through the city on a weekday evening, weekend or bank holiday.
3. The London Congestion Charge can be paid through the Transport for London website or call centre up to 90 days in advance of travel, on the actual day of travel or by midnight the next day and is active in the following areas:
– St. James’s
– City of London
– Covent Garden
– Charing Cross
– London Bridge
– Marylebone, Lambeth and Southwark
