The Car Hire Luton Airport branch are hoping the team can bounch back after being knocked out of the F.A Cup over the weekend, with three points in the league tonight.
The first half performance left Luton Town chief disappointed as they exited the F.A Cup at the first round stage against Welling. Manager John Still aired his frustration to the players during the post match huddle and he said, “I don’t think we played a cup tie first half, we played a cup tie second half. I was very animated because this is the FA Cup and sometimes it doesn’t matter how you play, you can have a bit of luck and go through as it’s a one off. You can have a bit of bad luck and go out, that happens, but if we’d have played the second half way in the first, I’d have thought maybe it wasn’t right, but second half was right, 100 per cent right.”
Still mentioned that there have been warnings earlier in the season of the cup attitude teams play with, highlighting Tamworth away in the league as an example. There were four changes to the side from the previous game, but felt this was not the reason for the defeat as he added, “I can name lots of reasons why maybe it isn’t bang on, but it was bang on in the second half, so we can produce it.”
The fans did not seem to unhappy to leave the competition as winning promotion is seen as the major aim, but John Still did not agree, “The players got a standing ovation as they saw a performance second half, but this isn’t about one game, it’s about building a team that can get promotion, maintain it’s position where it is and keep growing. The only thing that I demand is that you play every game as if it’s your last game.”
Luton Town now head to Braintree tonight (Tuesday) a ground they have yet to win at, but records do not interest the manager.
