Manchester to host live shows of hit sitcom Phoenix Nights

There is excitement in the Car Hire Manchester Airport office as the news was revealed about the popular TV programme coming to the city next year.

The announcement by Peter Kay of two live shows in Manchester of the popular TV sitcom Phoenix Nights next year will be great news for fans. They are to support Comic Relief with all money raised going to the charity.

The two performances at Manchester Arena on January 31st and February 1st will reunite the original cast of the Channel 4 comedy series, including Dave Spikey and Paddy McGuinness.

Announcing details of the shows on BBC Radio 2, Kay said “They were overwhelming with their generosity. Everyone is doing it for free and everybody’s getting involved. We’re all looking forward to it and it’s been lovely getting together with everybody and working out ideas of what we want to do.”

Earlier this month, Kay told fans at a charity gig in Blackpool “I am going to be making a big announcement about Phoenix Nights sometime in the next 10 days so fans need to be watching out for that.”

Kay did not rule out a new series as he made the announcement, but show will not be touring, he confirmed. Tickets go on sale on Sunday at 11am.
