Looking for something to do in Glasgow this weekend? Head to the Merchant City Festival in Glasgow’s cultural quarter for an event packed weekend. Running until Sunday 2 August 2015, the Merchant City Festival will be showcasing some of the best entertainment around, including street art, live music, dance, comedy, talks, tours and drama.
The event will be hosting the world premier of Fragile, a collaboration between Motionhouse, Conflux, Merchant City Festival, Gulben Kian and the University of Kent, which will involve large scale street performers and emerging artists.
A family zone will be set up in Merchant Square with plenty of fun filled activities for children and parents alike. There will be a variety of live acts performing on the Blackfrairs Stage, along with an array of street theatres dotted about the festival site.
If you’re after something a little different, then take part in the Glasgow Eats and Beats, a musical walking tour of the city. Or you can sign up for the From Stream to Green walk, which incorporates Glasgow Green and the Science Centre and is a 250th anniversary celebration of James Watt’s invention of the steam engine.
There will also be plenty of other activites over the weekend, such as fashion, design, visual arts, history, silm and food and drinks markets.
