There are breathtaking places to visit locally while you are on your travels in your Greater Manchester Motorhome. You don’t have to travel far to visit beautiful countryside and open green spaces. We have compiled some places that would suit any age and interests.
The Marsden Moor Estate is great if you are looking to explore the countryside. There is over 100 miles of public footpaths crossing the hillside, the scenery changes through the seasons & the scenery is spectacular no matter what the season. Landscapes include Pule Hill, here you will find a hidden poem by a local poet Simon Armitage in the Quarry.
This is an 18-metre deep chasm which was caused by a giant landslip, there is plenty of folklore about the area. It’s an amazing sight, the whole chasm is covered from top to bottom in moss, it’s an interesting area for nature, it has lots of history dating back to the 15th century. It was used as a secret place for worship. One of the myths about the area is that the chasm was created by the devil’s fingernail as he scraped back parts of the Earth!
Bridestones, Crosscliff & Blakely topping all make up part of a nature reserve in North Yorkshire that belongs to the National Trust. There are some really unique and interesting rock formations known as the Bridestones, they are from around 150million years ago! There is also around 300 acres of nature reserve that can be explored here.
