New Glasgow School of Art Building to be opened by Harry Potter Star

Car Hire Glasgow Airport staff would love to be at the opening ceremony of the fascinating new building in Glasgow.

Glasgow School of Art (GSA) has a new building, to be opened by Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane. The Reid Building is equipped with studios, a gallery and new visitor centre, has been designed by US architect Steven Holl costing £30 million and is named after GSA ‘s first female director Dame Seona Reid, who stepped down from the role in 2013.

There will be more than 2,000 past and current students, staff and friends of GSA at the opening ceremony along with Harry Potter star Coltrane. Scottish writer and broadcaster Muriel Gray, a former student and current GSA chairwoman will sing at the event.

This new building replaces the former Foulis Building and Newbery Tower and Renfrew Street. It sits opposite the GSA’s iconic main building, which was designed by internationally-renowned architect Rennie Mackintosh.
