There is a worry congestion issues will occur from some of the staff at Car Hire Birmingham Airport, with the redevelopment of one of the roads close to the airport.
A new three-month programme commissioned and funded by Birmingham Airport to widen a section of the A45 to improve the traffic flow and ease congestion will start tonight. Road signs are now in place and information, including diversion maps, can be viewed via the airport’s website.
The work will cost around £1 million and will be carried out ahead of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s reconstruction of the A45 South Bridge starting in early 2015.
This is the first step to improving key strategic transport links which will bring significant economic benefits to the borough. Operations director Bob Graham said “This section of road is a vital access point to the airport from the M42 and A45 so we’re making this investment now to provide the infrastructure to support our expected growth in the coming years.”
