Having narrowly avoided relegation last season, Premier League veterans Newcastle United are looking to turn their fortunes around with the start of their 2015/16 Barclays Premier League campaign. It’s a case of ‘so far, so good’ for United, as their first game saw them avoid defeat in a 2-2 draw with Southampton – no mean feat considering the 9-place gap between the clubs at the end of last season. Things are looking much better for the beloved club, known locally as ‘Toon’, having brought in a number of new signings and replaced unpopular caretaker manager John Carver with the highly-experienced Steve Maclaren.
However, there is still a long way to go, and the club now face a tough run of fixtures, facing Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United within the coming weeks. This is sure to be a test of the team’s resolve early on in their campaign, but they will benefit from the backing of some of the most passionate fans in the world of football.
Newcastle’s home stadium St James’ Park is an incredible experience for home fans and visitors alike, and is just a 20-minute drive away from our Easirent site at Newcastle International Airport. St James’ was also featured in our recently-published list of Newcastle visitor attractions. The ground offers walking tours, which make for a fantastic day out, as well as various hospitality packages for matchdays. For more information, visit the club’s official website.
