Pick up your Easirent hire car from our Luton Airport depot and head to London’s famous Notting Hill Carnival, which is taking place over this August Bank Holiday weekend.
Born in 1964 as a way for the Afro Caribbean community of London to celebrate their own culture and traditions, the Notting Hill Carnival has since grown into Europe’s biggest street party, and it attracts thousands of visitors to West London each year.
Each year the streets of Notting Hill are brought to life, with a parade of floats, Calypso mas and pan bands and over 40 sound systems to get the festival-goers dancing. Not to mention the Caribbean food stalls which will be serving up fresh, authentic food and drink to hungry guests; choose from the jerk chicken, fried plantain, goat curry or rice and peas, and wash it all down with a delicious rum punch.
Saturday 30 August is family friendly day; get the kids involved in Children’s Day, a fun filled day of carnival crafts and activities for all ages. The Notting Hill Carnival grand finale takes place on the Monday and includes over 60 bands in magnificent colourful costumes, showing off their amazing dancing, including UK Calypsonians, soca artists, visiting international artists and emerging artists from across the nation.
