Oldest company in Liverpool turned in record profits last year

The team at Car Hire Liverpool Airport want to congratulate the firm in the city which has been trading the longest on its record figures. 

The oldest trading company in Liverpool, RS Clare turned in record sales and profits last year. The lubricants, greases and road markings group saw sales reach £27.3 million during 2013. The businesses performance was boosted by the Wilson & Scott road markings subsidiary which turned in a fourfold profits increase.

The firm which was founded in 1748 now wants to double profits in the next three years. Chairman Ian Meadows said “Considerable progress has been made since I took a back seat a year ago. All parts of the group have excelled, achieving record performance. Large capital programmes are in place to build a state of the art grease plant and expand our road marking company to take advantage of the additional long term contracts which have been awarded to us across much of the rest of the country.”

The family owned business exports £10 million of its products annually and currently employs 145 staff. The company have appointed Noel Patterson as managing director, following the stepping down of Mr Meadows.
