Car Hire Glasgow Airport think this is going to be the start of a busy summer for car hire, after the airport had increased passenger numbers again, with sporting events still to come.
Another month of growth for Glasgow Airport, as April saw over 576,000 people travel through the airport. It even created Scottish aviation history as it was the first Scottish airport to receive the world’s largest commercial aircraft, the A380.
Managing director of Glasgow Airport, Amanda McMillan said “The arrival of Emirates’ A380 ensured April was an extremely memorable month for Glasgow Airport. We also enjoyed a busy Easter period and celebrated the launch of a number of new routes including easyJet’s flights to Kos and the decision by Citywing to reinstate a direct service to the Isle of Man. We are continuing to benefit from the city’s success in securing large scale events such as BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend which will take place later this month. Glasgow will also host a number of major conferences during May which play an important role in attracting inbound business tourism. We will continue to work closely with our city partners to further enhance Glasgow’s international standing and with events such as the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup still to come, it promises to be an exciting summer.”
The summer season began in April at the airport, with the return of airlines Air Malta, US Airways and Virgin Atlantic who have added extra capacity for 2014.
