It is great there will still be lots happening for those who do not have tickets. Car Hire Glasgow Airport will be offering directions and tips to those car hire customers in the city during the Games.
With the Glasgow Commonwealth Games beginning soon, for those who have not managed to get tickets, there are still heaps of things to do during the games, as well as over one thousand performances in over 100 locations.
For the duration of the Games (23rd July – 3rd August) there is the Merchant City Festival which is at a big house split into different areas. It will offer live performances in The Living Room, there will be a sporty theme in the Back Garden and The Playhouse will offer activities for the kids. There will be other areas offering other activities.
In King Street, Parnie Street, Chisholm Street and Osbourne Street there will be a Family Zone on the weekends offering shows and activities for the family. At the Old Fruitmarket people can party under the same roof as Team Scotland at Festival 2014’s official late-night venue.
Big screens will be in Glasgow Green offering opening and closing ceremony viewing, plus they will show the sport and one showing the festival programme, sport and messages.
Down by the water the Commonwealth Flotilla (26th July) will be going up the Clyde on paddle steamer, with various places to view shore side. For the opening (23rd July) and closing (3rd August) ceremonies tickets will be needed for Glasgow Green and Kelvingrove Bandstand.
