Profits up for AG Barr after Glasgow Commonwealth Games involvement

Those working at Car Hire Glasgow Airport hope more local businesses were able to make a little bit extra from the footfall of the Commonwealth Games this summer.

AG Barr the maker of Irn Bru has posted pre-tax profits of 14.6% to £19 million for the first half of the year. It has viewed its involvement in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games as a factor for its profits.

The soft drinks group, which also produces Rubicon and Strathmore Water, revealed a total revenue increase of 5.4% to reach £135.7 million for the first half of the year and claimed to have witnessed ‘balanced growth’ across all of its core brands through innovation and marketing activation.

Chief executive Roger White said, “We have delivered strong, balanced growth across our core brands in the year to date, with volume growth well ahead of the total market.  We have traded well across all channels and have benefited from the excellent execution of our Commonwealth Games sales and marketing plans.”
