A great idea has been suggested to make travelling around for the Commonwealth Games next year a bit different as Car Hire Glasgow Airport report.
With the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow taking place next summer, there is a plan to create a number of public bike hire points to be in place for the games. The proposal is similar to the one in London for a Mass Automated Cycle Hire (MACH) scheme, has been put forward to the council’s Executive committee by the Sustainability and Transport member Alistair Watson.
The cost is believed to be £586,000 and a low technology system has been suggested using mobile phone technology to manage the scheme. There would be an initial roll-out of 150 bikes in time for the Games, with the number increasing to 400 from September 2014, with improvements to cycle lanes also included in the report.
