It was another fantastic event which staff at Car Hire Liverpool Airport thoroughly enjoyed experiencing some of the stalls and food.
Record numbers were seen at the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival over the weekend for the Sefton Park event. More than 28,000 people attended the Sunday part of the event, with 26,000 on Saturday. The final numbers for Friday’s launch night are still being worked out.
This is the first time the event has run over three days, and organiser Denise Harris of SK Events said, “It’s been phenomenal. We’re all blown away by the festival this year. We’ve had more people than ever before, even before we add in the new Friday evening. The feedback from the public and from those taking part has been fantastic. The weather has helped, of course, but the main draw has been all the food and drink on offer from across Merseyside. We can’t thank everyone enough for their support.”
The festival is now in its seventh year, with Friday holding the biggest pub quiz in the North with 800 people taking part. It took a 40-strong team around two weeks to construct the festival site at Sefton Park. Previous years have attracted around 40,000 visitors, but this year the total is expected to exceed 60,000.
The site featured pop-up stalls from hundreds of local food and drink outlets, from Liverpool bars and restaurants including East Z East, Il Forno, Lefteris and Salt Dog Slims. There were also demonstrations by celebrity chefs Tom Kerridge and Yotam Ottolenghi.
Mr Ottolenghi said “I’ve been very impressed by Liverpool. I’ve promised to come back and do a restaurant tour of the city.”
