Somerset House and its grand and foreboding 18th century courtyard will once again play home to an ice rink in Central London this winter. Between November 18th and January 10th the courtyard will be awash with festive cheer and special events are planned throughout the year, to ensure that the event is as memorable as possible.
Visiting Somerset House couldn’t be simpler as it is so centrally based, in the Strand on the south side of the Thames and it is easily accessible once you’ve picked up your Easirent hire car from our London Luton Airport branch, found your accommodation and settled in.
The grounds of Somerset House provide a most atmospheric setting for skating throughout the winter and the ice rink measures a sizeable 900 square metres, with the option of special VIP sessions called Skate Extras, which come with the decadent treats of champagne and chocolate truffles, wine and fondue for two or champagne and smoked salmon blinis, served from Fortnum’s Lodge on site.
There is also a Skate School for amateurs wanting to improve their skills and even the Polar Cub Club for the youngest first-time skaters. Somerset House Ice Rink will also play home to club nights with DJs from Ministry of Sound as well as Island Records and the Christmas Arcade provides a luxurious and premium market shopping experience. Guests who don’t fancy getting on the ice but still want to enjoy the atmosphere can pick up a drink from the Botanical Bar which can be accessed without a ticket.
Winter isn’t winter without a session upon the ice and at Somerset House it’s got a premium feel.
