Car Hire Heathrow Airport think the sculpture for the new terminal looks fantastic and will surely soon be hearing more about it from car hire customers.
A sculpture which was created in Hull has made its way to Heathrow Airport and been unveiled, with the chances of being one of the most-viewed works of art in the world.
It is called Slipstream and was designed by artist Richard Wilson, who has twice been nominated for the Turner Prize and then made by Hull specialist engineering firm Commercial Systems International (CSI). The sculpture measures 70 metres in length and weighs 77 tonnes, making it larger than an A400 jet plane.
Councillor Steven Bayes, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for City of Culture 2017, said “Slipstream is an exceptional example of the craftsmanship, skills and creativity that Hull firms can deliver to the world. I am very proud that an artwork made in Hull will be seen by millions of travellers from all over the world as they pass through Heathrow Airport’s Terminal Two.”
