Thursday 10th of July 2014
It is a must for all in the city to visit or watch the parade. Laura and Paul at Car Hire Liverpool Airport will be doing their best if they have some free time to get along.
There will be an opportunity for the public of Liverpool to get a sneak preview of the new grandmother giant two days before the parade takes place. The giant will be on display at St George’s Hall for two days before the main Memories of 1914 event takes place. During 23rd and 24th July there will be set viewing times for the public to see the 25ft tall puppet.
The grandmother has been in France ahead of the visit to Liverpool, Manager of St George’s Hall, Alan Smith, said “We were approached around a year ago to look at the prospect of showcasing one of the giants before they set off on their travels around the city. We jumped at the opportunity and knew that the sight of the grandmother asleep in the Great Hall would be stunning and will really add to the buzz that surrounds this event already. People have been asking me how she will fit in the Hall – I’m not revealing any secrets but a little French magic and a drop of scouse determination means anything is possible!”
All tours are free, with British Sign Language Tours available at various times on Wednesday and Audio Visual Tours on Thursday, both must be pre-booked. There will be an opportunity for visitors to make a donation to St George’s Hall.
