The new manager Chris at Car Hire Stansted Airport is delighted to hear about all the new upgrades to the airport they serve for car hire.
The mall at Stansted Airport is beginning to take shape, with high street stores fit to satisfy the world’s most demanding shoppers. The owners Manchester Airports Group (MAG) unveiled the first stage on Monday.
Stansted’s managing director Andrew Harrison said “What customers had to enjoy previously was quite formulaic – it was designed for how people used airports 20 years ago – and now they expect an experience.”
A concierge desk now greets passengers rather than a dated display of VAT free booze and fags and Jose Maria Palencia, World Duty Free’s group chief executive, said it was a clear statement of intent from MAG and he anticipated spend per passenger would increase by 10%, thanks to the upgrade.
In return for opening from 4am to 10pm, Stansted Airport guarantees its traders the kind of footfall Stortford’s Jackson Square precinct can only dream of, with 10m passengers a year guided past state-of-the-art units featuring WH Smith, Boots UK, Dixons Travel, Glorious Britain, JD Sports, Rituals and Fat Face.
MAG chief executive Charlie Cornish said “When MAG acquired Stansted last year we set out a clear vision to return the airport to growth and improve services and facilities for our passengers. We are making great progress on our £260m investment programme at Stansted and with the airport once again the fastest growing airport in London, the time to invest in change couldn’t be better. The multi-million pound transformation of the terminal building signifies a real turning point in the history of Stansted Airport and I’m delighted to officially mark the completion of the first phase of the new international departure lounge and hope this gives our passengers a glimpse of what the future holds.”
