The season is nearly over but any local cricket fans are being advised by the cricket lovers at Car Hire Stansted Airport to support the final game of the season.
The division one title race of the Herts & Essex Cricket League is going to the wire with Stansted joint top going into the final match of the season. They are top along with Ilford Catholics on 359 points.
Stansted were indebted to two youngsters as they beat South Loughton after recovering from an early batting collapse to 92-6 after 28 overs. This left the two youngest members of the side to take responsibility for maintaining the title challenge and they ran riot. Josh Monk hit 116, including 10 sixes and 11 fours, and Ben Baker made 74 as Stansted ended on 302-8.
In reply, South Loughton made 189-8 with Baig not out on 51. For Stansted, Matt Abbotson took 2-25, Baker 2-29 and Monk 2-41. Stansted now travel to fourth-placed Theydon Bois this weekend, while Ilford host mid-table Birchanger.
