The legendary Ashes series returns to Nottingham on August 16th, and England’s cricketers will be keen to redeem their pride after last year’s humiliating 5-0 washout at the hands of an in-form Australia. It’s a case of ‘so far, so good’ for England, after an impressive showing in the first test in Cardiff left them 1-0 up. With Australia firm favourites to retain the cup before the start of play, the team will now have to regroup quickly if they want to succeed.
As usual, each of the five tests will be held at a different venue, with the fourth being held at Nottingham’s legendary Trent Bridge, which has been a household name in Cricket since opening in 1841. As its name suggests, the venue lies on the banks of the river Trent, just outside of Nottingham’s vibrant city centre, and is easily reachable in your Easirent hire car from the East Midlands Airport site. The site has an impressive capacity of 17,500, and is the upcoming test is expected to pack out the stands.
It’s been a year of momentum for British sports, with a highly impressive showing from The Lionesses at the Women’s World Cup in Canada, and the men’s team unbeaten since their poor showing in last year’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Hopefully, England captain Alistair Cook’s men can keep this momentum going, and reclaim the coveted trophy before the Summer is over.
