The British Invasion: How 1960s Beat Groups Conquered America

No trip to Liverpool can be complete without a visit to The Beatles Story. Situated in the iconic Albert Dock on Liverpool’s famous waterfront, this museum pays homage to the Fab Four and its current exhibition, ‘The British Invasion: How 1960s Beat Groups Conquered America’ tells the tale of how four lads from Liverpool, altered the mind-frame of an entire country.

The exhibition, which has been co-curated with the GRAMMY Museum LA, shows visitors how British invasion bands took over America’s Billboard 100 in the 1960s and 1970s.

Through a series of never before seen photographs of legendary bands such as the Rolling Stones and memorabilia that has never been on display outside of America before, the exhibition follows the influence of British Rock and Roll bands on some of America’s most famous musicians. Visitors can learn how bands such as the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Dave Clark Five and The Kinks shifted the perspective of Rock and Roll in the USA, while introducing new fashions, trends and accents to the country.

When America was missing some of its most celebrated musicians including Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly, homegrown British musicians stepped in and changed the face of Rock and Roll forever.

Running until 30th September 2016, ‘The British Invasion: How 1960s Beat Groups Conquered America’ is only available to Beatles Story ticket holders. Tickets can be bought online and prices range from £9 for a child to £14.50 for an adult; family packages are also available.
