For anyone who appreciates the great outdoors, stunning countryside and scenery, then the Lake District is somewhere that you should definitely visit. The Lake District is popular amongst campervan holiday makers, as it is just so pleasant to drive around and there is a lot to see while you are doing so. This a mountainous region in the North West of England and is sometimes referred to as The Lakes, and it is in the county of Cumbria. Due to it’s location, it is reported to be the wettest place in England, however this does not deter the droves of people who continue to visit year upon year.
The Lake District National Park is home to almost all of the Lake District, and along with the breathtaking lakes and forests, are a lot of wildlife such as the red squirrel, ospreys, buzzards and ravens. Since Roman times, the major industry of the area has been sheep farming, although mining and quarrying have also played a big part in industry too. The Lake District is said to be one of the best places to eat in the country, with two Michelin Star restaurants, and it has it’s own micro breweries.
The Lake District has long been associated as the source of inspiration to The Lake Poets; Wordsworth, Coleridge and Southey. One of England’s most famous poems is Wordsworth’s “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud”, which was inspired by the sight of daffodils on the shores of Ullswater. These wonderful associations is what attracts people to this part of the country, including those who decide to rent a campervan from Easirent and experience The Lakes in a more free and easy way.
