Thomas Cook Airlines and Manchester Airport will be taking a headline spot in this year’s Manchester Pride celebration as part of the festival’s Big Weekend 2015.
It will be the fourth consecutive year that Manchester Airport have been a headline sponsor for the event, and the first year for Thomas Cook Airlines.
The event which will see tens of thousands of people flock to the city to celebrate Pride, will take place across the August bank holiday weekend, which this year falls between Friday 28 to Monday 31 August.
Staff from Manchester Airport and Thomas Cook Airlines will be headlining the parade on Saturday 29 August from 13:00, on a colourful eye-catching float, which aims to celebrate all things USA in order to promote the airline’s six American routes to New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, Las Vegas and Orlando. Also joining them on the float will be Scooch, the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest entrants, who will be entertaining the crowds as the float passes through Manchester City Centre.
As part of the weekend celebrations, Thomas Cook Airlines will be putting on extra flights into the city, which will see over 324,000 passengers pass through Manchester Airport’s three terminals.
Managing director of Manchester Airport, Ken O’Toole has commented on the upcoming event: “We are pleased to jointly sponsor the Manchester Pride festival, alongside one of our largest airlines, as we prepare to welcome thousands of international visitors to the region over the Bank Holiday Weekend. We hope the event will be a great success and wish everyone – staff taking part and members of the public – a great time.”
