1. Glasgow Film Festival
The Glasgow Film Festival is an annual event which takes place in the city centre in February of each year. Designed to showcase local film makers and stars from the Scottish screen, the Glasgow Film Festival also explores the international influences that play a big role in modern day film making. With plenty to see and do during the festival, visitors can listen to live panels, which will give invaluable insider knowledge of the film industry. 2. Glasgow International Comedy Festival
Taking place in the city each March, the Glasgow International Comedy Festival attracts thousands of visitors each year. Spread across 18 days and 40 different venues, there are over 300 shows for the whole family to enjoy during the event. Designed to push the boundaries of contemporary comedy, the Glasgow International Comedy Festival attracts local talent as well as some big names from the international comedy circuit. Make sure that you get your tickets before they sell out, in order to avoid disappointment.
3. Doors Open Day
Imagine if there was a day, during which you could explore the ins and outs of the city’s most iconic buildings. Well you’re in luck, for one day only, the Doors Open Day allows residents of, and visitors to Glasgow city centre to navigate their way through the hidden hallways and grand gardens of some of the most secretive buildings in the city. Now in its 16th year, the Doors Open Day attracts over 70,000 visitors to the city each year.
4. Glasgow International Jazz Festival
Calling all music fans, the Glasgow International Jazz Festival is back, and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever. Now in its 30th year, the festival attracts some of the biggest guitar legends in the industry; so whether it’s traditional, Dixie or acid jazz that you prefer, or maybe you’re more into Northern Soul, then there is definitely something for you to enjoy during the festival.
