Swap your Easirent hire car for your sturdy walking boots, as you set off on one of the many walking tours of London. There’s no better way to immerse yourself in the culture of the capital than by exploring the city on foot. And, of course, this being London there are plenty of eccentric tours that you can take. Here at Easirent, we have selected a few of our favourites for you to try.
1. The Dawn Chorus Trail
In a city as built up as London, it’s hard to find the time to connect with the nature around you, as hidden as it may be. What better way to start your day than by rising with the lark and experiencing the dawn chorus first hand. Getting up at 5am might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but believe us, this is a better way to wake up in the morning than your usual cup of tea. One of the best spots to experience the beauty is London’s Hampstead Heath.
2. Canal Walk
London is home to the six mile Canal Square, a 200 year old feat of industrial engineering, and certainly something to marvel at. Leave your Easirent hire car at the hotel and take a stroll along the network of waterways, soaking up the city sights as you go.
3. Toilet Walk
Now this might sound like a slightly bizarre one… but stay with us. London is home to some rather quirky public toilets, and a very British sense of humour. The Toilet Tour lasts for around 90 minutes and is a journey through the history and politics of London, as represented by the toilet. If you’re looking for something that demonstrated the charming British eccentricity, then this is probably it.
4. Street Art Walk
Once hailed as vandalism, street art is now one of the most popular forms of public art, with new pieces popping up literally overnight. And there’s probably nowhere better to see it in the country than in London. Take a whistle stop tour past some of the city’s modern masterpieces, and, you never know, maybe you’ll even spot a Banksy.
5. Death Themed Pub Tour
If there’s one thing that Victorian London is famed for, it’s murder, it’s intrigue, it’s mystery. The age of Jack the Ripper and other notorious villains has been craftily brought back to life through the Death Themes Pub Tour. Learn all about London’s bloody and homicidal history as you pay a visit to some of the most notorious East End pubs on this gruesome tour.
