If you want good music, Car Hire Glasgow Airport staff all agree that their city is the place to head to any time of the year.
The top UK city for finding new musical talent has been announced as Glasgow, with three of the top ten venues in the country coming from the city. King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, The Barrowlands and The Arches took their place on the list that outlined gig-goers favourite venues for finding new talent.
Geoff Ellis, head of promoters DF Concerts, believes the demand for new music is greater than ever. He said “Scottish audiences are incredibly passionate about the arts and their reaction to live music in particular is often commented on by some of the biggest names in the world. As a promoter, and music fan, there is nothing more satisfying than being part of an artist’s career trajectory from an intimate venue like King Tut’s to headlining a festival like T in the Park.”
Councillor Gordon Matheson said “I am delighted to see this research recognise what music fans around the globe have long known – that Glasgow is one of the world’s leading capitals of music.”
The study was commissioned by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, also found out that generally a fan is willing to travel 138 miles for a concert and would spend £100 for the privilege.
