The Turner Prize is heading to Glasgow this winter for the first time ever. Pick up your Easirent hire car from our Glasgow city centre branch and head to the Tramway, Glasgow South Side to see Europe’s most prestigious art prize.
A very important event for the people of Scotland, the Turner Prize has never before exhibited north of the border, so a huge turnout of visitors is expected. Running until 17th January 2016, the Turner Prize 2015 is not to be missed by art fans.
The Turner Prize is awarded to a British artist under the age of 50 for one of their most outstanding works of art from the previous year. The prize fund is £40,000, with £25,000 going to the winner and £5,000 for each of the other shortlisted artists.
This year’s four shortlisted artists, whose works will be featured in the exhibition, are Assemble, Bonny Camplin, Janice Kerbel and Nicola Wermers. As well as works on display by the various artists, there will also be educational workshops, tours, talks and creative activities.
This year’s Turner Prize jury consists of Mr Alistair Hudson, Director of the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art; Jan Verwoert, art critic and curator; Ms Joanna Mytkowska, Director of he Warsaw Museum of Modern Art and Ms Kayla McDonald the Artistic Director of the Glasgow Sculpture Studios.
