What a great story for two men in Glasgow, with Car Hire Glasgow Airport staff thinking it will be a proud moment when they participate in their opening game.
A dream has come true for two Glasgow chefs as they have been called up to play bowls for Pakistan, their country of birth in the Commonwealth Games this summer. Curry chefs Chico Mohammed and Ali Shan Muzahir will be pitting their bowls knowledge with teams from all over the world in July.
Ali said “It’s everyone’s dream to be asked to represent your country, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I was over the moon when I found out.”
Both players have been involved in bowls for over twenty years and are both qualified coaches. The Pakistan lawn bowls association were struggling to put a team together of home-grown players, when a Scots coach recommended the pair at the world cup last year it solved the problem.
The Clarkston Bowling Club is where they both play and club chairman Mark Weir said, “The entire membership is delighted for them. Our club has grown in the last two or three years but to have two members competing at international level is fantastic. They have promised us a Pakistan team jersey, which we will frame and hang in the bar for all time.”
