Weather warnings in Edinburgh with transport effected

The staff at Car Hire Edinburgh Airport have been making all car hire customers renting over the coming days, aware of the potential tricky driving conditions in the area.

There could well be wind up to 70mph in Edinburgh by the weekend, as the Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for the end of the week, with expected disruption to transport.

Meteorologists said that the westerly winds might even affect power supplies across the Lothians. The first warning comes into effect on Friday morning, with gusts of 60-70mph expected until around midday. Then, a second warning has been issued for Saturday between midnight and 6pm.

A Met Office spokesperson said “This will probably be a larger system than Friday’s, and the area at risk from disruptive winds may well be larger. There remains some uncertainty in the extent of the disruptive conditions so the public should monitor the website in the coming days.”
