Liverpool will be able to feel the thrill of zip wire adventure when it arrives this Saturday for four weeks. The giant zip wire ride will propel people across Liverpool at around 40mph.
The event is being hosted by Liverpool Business Improvement District and will be the first of its kind in the country, with thousands expected to take part, but it is not the only zip wire experience in the UK. There is the largest zip wire zone in the world in North Wales, which opened in June. It travels at up to 70mph, over 4 miles of wire track.
Journalist Laura Swire was one of the first to trial the new North Wales wire, she said, “The butterflies and sweaty palms kicked in as I waited my turn. I was in the last group of four to travel down the zip wire and I couldn’t have been more apprehensive.”
The wire in Liverpool wire will be at a station 115 feet above Church Street and ascend over thousands of shoppers. Only around one minute later participants will be deposited, travelling further than the pitches at Goodison Park and Anfield combined. It costs £15 for users or £10 for charity fundraisers. Open from 10am to 6pm Sunday to Thursday, and 10am to 8pm on Friday and Saturday.
